Jakarta Govt to Restore Taman Puring Market Facilities

The Jakarta Provincial Governemnt will restore Taman Puring Market in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, following a fire that broke out on Monday (7/28) evening.

"We will surely repair and prepare it,"

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that Taman Puring Market is a highly active market that remains essential by the community.

"We will surely repair and prepare it because the market is a people's market that is still very much needed by the local community and remins highly active," he said at Pluit Reservoir, North Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/29).

Mitigation Efforts Strengthened to Curb Fire Outbreaks

Pramono explained that when the fire occurred around 6 PM, he immediately coordinated with South Jakarta Mayor and related teams to go directly to the site. The fire was extinguished by firefighters around 8:30 PM.

Approximately 500 small stalls affected by the fire. He also confirmed that there were no causalties.

"Given this fire, we will help restore the facilities," he added.

For information, 118 firefighters from South Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency were deployed to extinguish the blaze at Taman Puring Market. A total of 552 stalls within a 2,000-square-meter area were affected by the incident.

The fire started around 6:10 PM and quickly spread, engulfing the stalls of Taman Puring Market.
